![]() While some things are always the same-like fuel, food, and health-the random encounters and characters you meet along the way are what make the experience so fun. There’s several modes to chose from once you beat the normal mode.Ī lot of Death Road to Canada’s charm lies in its sense of humor and its complete absurdity. One false move or mistake can cost you the whole game and you always have to manage, choose, and fight wisely to be prepared for whatever insanity the next day will bring. ![]() The gameplay is constantly evolving and changing so nothing ever gets boring, but nothing stops being unforgiving. In your car, which can also break down and be replaced, you’ll have to fight and drive for 14 days of travel, followed by a full-on hack-and-slash run for Canada at the border. You start as a party of two-single-player or multiplayer-and can expand up to a party of four or shrink to a party of one, recruiting and changing characters throughout the playthrough. You’ll collect weapons, hoard fuel and food, make and lose friends, and use your special skills and traits to hopefully survive the road trip and the zombie apocalypse. ![]() Most of Death Road to Canada‘s gameplay is a trade-off between fighting zombies, scavenging or resource management, and navigating bizarre scenarios on the road. If looting at night becomes necessary for survival, don't forget to bring a flashlight.Managing resources, your party and the road is a big part of the gameplay. Night officially starts at 9:00 PM, staying out looting after 10:00 PM can get the player caught in a horde. The later it gets in the day, the more zombies will gather and the more aggressive they'll become. When looting any of the available areas, always make sure to keep an eye on the time. If possible players should buy better weapons, restock ammo, recruit additional firepower, and top off medical supplies. This becomes especially important towards the end of the road, the last chance the player will have to stock up on supplies before the final stretch to Canada is at a trading post. Players can use spare weapons gathered to sell for food or other goods the party needs. Some traders may even give gifts to the group if they're low on food. The traders can also be helpful depending on the party's needs and which have randomly spawned. Free loot is sometimes available, usually some spare ammo or an unopened toilet. While traveling the choice to stop at a trading post will pop up from time to time, and it is always wise to stop. Characters given the 'Irritating' or 'BESERK!' traits will be able to use these dialogue options immediately. Filling the counter at trading camps is the safest way to gain the benefits without getting too many drawbacks, as the worst outcome is being forced to leave. Once used, the counter will reset to allow the player the opportunity to use the function again. Using this option will always result in a positive outcome for the entire party, with the benefits depending on the encounter. The group has a hidden counter to track these interactions, and once the 'Cool It' choice is used three times in one game the option to say 'COOL IT!!!' or 'SAY IT, DON'T SPRAY IT!!!' with three exclamation marks can appear. Saying this will almost always give negative results, ranging in severity from lost supplies to death. When these two stats are low enough the option to say, 'COOL IT' or 'SAY IT, DON'T SPRAY IT' may be available during events. ![]() Another trick involves the wit and attitude stat every character has in Death Road to Canada.

A Nm is about 3/4 of a foot-pound, or conversely, a foot-pound is about 1 and 1/3 Nm.ĭimensions of the motors and shaft are shown in millimetres – mm. IN THE TABLE, when no HP equivalent has been provided, we have used the continuous power and multiplied it by 1.3 to indicate HP equivalent. When manufacturers have provided an HP equivalent we have used that. As noted above, there is a lot of leeway in how this is interpreted. HP is ‘HorsePower equivalent’ so that you can get an idea of the power of the motor in comparison to a HP rating you might be more familiar with. We have indicated what the measurement is, although in the table we have used peak power as equal to input power and continuous as equal to output. Some quote only peak power or continuous power, some quote input power and output power. Power Ratings – measured in kiloWatts kW power rating quoted is taken from the manufacturer website. We have not given comparisons to Imperial/US measures except in ‘horsepower equivalent’, which is in itself not standardized due to how the power is measured by each manufacturer. ![]() The table can be searched with any keyword – manufacturer, for instance, or can be sorted by any of the columns: Peak kiloWatt power, Continuous kiloWatt power, estimated HP equvalent, Voltage, Dimensions (Length, Width, Height), Weight, RPMs, Type of motor and cooling system (air, liquid, water), and whether it is regenerative – capable of recharging when the boat is under sail propulsion.Īll measurements are in metric. If there are many models, we give a range from without lining the specs up with specific models. If there are 3 models in the line, we will give the specs for each model with a comma in between. For the specifications we have tried to make it a user friendly as possible. The motors are organized in alphabetical order by manufacturer, then by model line. If you are going to be using the table extensively the page is best viewed on a computer rather than smartphone or tablet. There may be some players already there, but it’s unlikely you’ll find them. Look up from your house and you’ll see several planets, each one you can visit to mine more elusive materials or hunt different animals. You’ll build a little house and fill it with machines to craft more interesting items such as warp gates or, most interestingly, gems that teleport you to other planets.īecause so much of Boundless is procedurally generated, all of the worlds are different, while not in quite the extensive fashion of No Man’s Sky. Make an axe, chop down trees to make a hammer which allows you to mine for precious metals, which makes a better axe or hammer or shovel. ![]() If you’ve played Minecraft, you’ll know what Boundless wants you to do. The only recipe I figured out myself was glue, used to make storage chests. ![]() I found myself pinning quests to my HUD half-finished and while it was helpful being guided to certain milestones, it removes any sense of self-discovery. I was mining seams of iron and copper before I knew there were quests for doing so, I’d found ancient buried technology and killed a set number of lifeforms before the game even urged me towards those goals. Using a very different system to Minecraft, it’s helpful, but of course once you get going Boundless falls into the tropes so well established by Mojang. Right from the off, the game holds your hand, telling you what to craft and how to establish a home. There are too few options and one can only imagine that everyone will look similar except maybe with variations in skin colour or horns. This all happens after you sign up for an account and create an alien to be your avatar, which is sadly a pretty dull affair. This is where you’ll buy plots and place them to ensure that other players don’t wreck your stuff and, interestingly, it also makes sure that the procedural generation doesn’t mess up your creations. When you first enter into the world of Boundless you’re instructed to craft a beacon which acts as your homestead. There are lots of seemingly abandoned houses, some with crafting tables set up, some with only a beacon flickering a lonesome flame. This is primarily because Boundless is a community game and, so far, there’s not much of a community in sight. However, for all the gorgeous planet hopping and interesting resource collecting, the game suffers from feeling sterile and empty. If the two games got together for an illicit affair and spawned a love child, this is the game that would appear in the delivery room. Let’s get this out of the way, because it’s a comparison that so many will use and honestly, it’s pretty fitting Boundless is Minecraft meets No Man’s Sky. ![]() ![]() The woman in this picture appears to be a witch or priestess, endowed with magic powers, possibly the power of prophecy. If you observe the smoke coming out of the caldron, one can ALMOST make out a figure (or figures). ![]() The witches in my circle need me not to explain any in this painting., if anything they may teach me a thing or two about the symbolism behind those animals, I am sure, but for those who are new to this, the painting shows a witch in the middle of act of complete drawing a circle. (4) Although the painting was critically acclaimed when exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1886, its dramatism was lampooned by Punchcartoonist Harry Furniss, who pictured the actress Sarah Bernhardt-known for her enthusiasm for spiritualism and for sleeping in a coffin-stirring a cauldron with a giant spoon.Arts Eclectic - "Magic Circle", oil painting by John William Waterhouse, in 1886. It has been suggested that the plume of steam rising from the cauldron is about to coalesce into form in the manner of ectoplasm, regularly encountered at such gatherings. While the painting itself has an air of the exotic, this relatively benign image of feminine power has more in common with the Victorian drawing room than is immediately apparent: séances and other spiritualist gatherings were the delight of the age and by no means incompatible with respectable womanhood. Bathed in soft light, she is surrounded by flowers and wearing a girdle, symbolic of fertility rather than sexuality. Although the symbolic meaning is imprecise, it is likely that the intent of the spell is good: outside the protective circle sinister symbols loom, but inside is a powerful woman who is not vauntingly sexualised as are so many of Waterhouse and his contemporaries’ more dangerous subjects. (2) While the original Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood strove for authenticity through detail, Waterhouse here creates an atmosphere in spite of the details. The intent of the painting is enigmatic, in part because so many cultural elements have been combined: the early Anglo-Saxon hairstyle and the Greek or Persian image of figures at battle on the otherwise medieval dress, the druidic knife and the arid, vaguely Mediterranean landscape present a confusing melange of civilisations. The woman holds a sickle that she has used to cut the ingredients for her potion a pile of poppies and other flowers lie beside the fire, and still more are thrust through the sash at her waist. The cliff-top is lined with onlookers, an unlit city looming over them. A conspiracy of ravens looks on and, in the background, hooded figures watch from the entrance of a cave. With a snake coiled around her neck, she draws a fiery circle around herself and her boiling cauldron. (1) These elements, combined with the night-time setting, create a hazy, mysterious atmosphere suitable to the subject: a sorceress in the midst of performing a ritual. Early in his career, Waterhouse produced several ‘orientalist’ works as well as many paintings of domestic life in the ancient world in the vein of Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema and Frederic Leighton. The magic circle 1886 unites this foundation with the artist’s growing interest in the occult, but represents a stylistic departure from the carefully detailed clarity prized by the Victorians it has a strong affinity with French painting of the era, especially the work of Jules Bastien-Lepage. John William Waterhouse is recognised for his depictions of femmes fatales in many forms, often inspired by Greek mythology-Pandora, sirens, the sorceress Circe-or tragic heroines with literary origins such as Ophelia and the Lady of Shalott. ![]() In round two, you earn two cinder, and in round three, three cinder, and so on. And you earn one point of cinder (a kind of energy) you can use to play another figurine if you can afford one. In Moonbreaker, you have a hero figurine and each battle starts with only them on the battlefield - you and your enemy. I can't shake the comparison to HearthStone in how it plays - it's not a card game, obviously, but it behaves a bit like one. It adds up to an elbowy introduction, but live with it for a bit and let it settle, and something promising begins to emerge. But note that you can't really see that character behind the jutting out piece of cover - the fighter with one health. I like the chunkiness but there's quite a lot happening in a small space. And it doesn't help that the movement controls are quirky in their own right and take a while to get used to. Move sloppily and you will be punished, and heavily if you're playing a skilled opponent. Keeping characters at distance, or closing the gaps between them, is half the tactical battle, and there's an entire subset of abilities based around it. ![]() And in it, as in the sports that take place in those arenas, movement and positioning are key. But I also think this claustrophobia is entirely intended, and that Moonbreaker is doing the equivalent of putting fighters in a ring or octagon, and forcing confrontations to take place. It's as though someone is holding my head too close to the action - I feel hemmed in and want to pull away. But it doesn't quite go high enough, and fails to clarify those confused bunches. You can go right in close, almost to eye-level with the figurines, which looks very impressive, but when you pull back, it's as though the camera emulates a person standing up, shifting you above the table in a kind of top-down view. It's a very vibrant game - there's a lot of character to it. Watch on YouTube The Moonbreaker launch video. As it is, I can only nudge the camera's rotation slightly before it pings back to a fixed angle, and it doesn't help much. When large figurines stand near smaller ones it can be hard to see what's going on. But I also want it for gameplay reasons, so I can see bunched stand-offs more clearly. It won't let you spin around the battlefield, viewing the action from varying angles, which I'd really like to do - if only to admire the figurines I've painted. The figurines are voiced - there's a lot of energy and character in the game - but there's no escaping you're playing an adaptation of a tabletop game.īut the camera feels rigid too, fixed on rails you'll struggle to pull it off. And when they attack, it's like a child twizzled them in an emulation of the real thing. And when they move, it's as if someone picked them up and plonked them down somewhere else. They are frozen in whatever dramatic expression they've been given: cheering, charging, taking aim, whatever. You collect and paint the figurines you use in battle figurines are the whole point, so it's not surprising they behave like them and don't move around like animated characters. A friend called it Warhammer without the licence and that's exactly what it is. It stems from Moonbreaker being a miniatures game. Availability: Out now in early access on Steam. It's strange because turn-based combat games are something I'm really familiar with, but Moonbreaker takes some getting used to though, and some of that I don't like, and some of it I really, really do. The first thing that hits me about Moonbreaker, the very-different-from-Subnautica game by Unknown Worlds, is how rigid and awkward it feels.
